Dry Ice Blasting Common Questions
Dry ice blasting is a revolutionary cleaning method that uses compressed air to accelerate frozen CO2 (carbon dioxide) pellets onto a surface. The extreme cold causes the contaminant to shrink and crack, while the kinetic energy of the pellet dislodges it. Upon impact, the dry ice pellets turn back into gas (CO2 sublimation), leaving no secondary residue to clean up.
The Kärcher IB 10/15 L2P is one of industry most advanced portable blasters. It features an integrated pellet production capability (the "L2P" or "Liquid-to-Pellet" system) which allows you to produce dry ice pellets on-demand using liquid CO2 cylinders. This eliminates the need to source and store pre-made dry ice pellets, offering maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency.
You will need three primary things:
1. The Kärcher IB 10/15 L2P unit.
2. A standard 120 v single phase outlet.
3. An external compressed air source (compressor) capable of providing a up to 50cfm and from 90 to 145 psi, i.e. any compressor with 15hp or above.
4. A liquid CO2 source, standard CO2 source or any other CO2 vessel including bulk tanks. for the on-board pellet production.
